TWO factory supervisors arrested on suspicion of manslaughter following the deaths of two steeplejacks in a Westhoughton chimney explosion were due to answer their bail today.
The men -- aged 56 and 38 and both from Bolton -- were expected to be questioned again at Astley Bridge Police Station before being released on police bail until early April. Police today said their enquiries would continue.
Nottingham-based steeplejack Paul Wakefield, aged 40, and his colleague Craig Whelan, aged 23, were engulfed in a fireball while working on a cradle inside the 40ft high chimney at the Carnaud Metalbox factory in Chew Moor Lane, Westhoughton, last May.
