VIRGIN trains will not be running between Stockport and Stoke-on-Trent on the weekend of Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 February.
This is due to signal work, part of the engineering project to upgrade the route for the company's new Pendolino tilting trains. Coaches will link Stoke-on-Trent with Crewe and Stafford and Wilmslow with Macclesfield where connections will be made with train services. A further 19 weeks of work is planned for the summer.
They will also provide local services to all stations between Stoke-on Trent, Macclesfield and Stockport, from where First North Western trains will run to Manchester Piccadilly.
Network Rail has confirmed that trains will be running normally again on Monday 17 February.
