WHERE are Manchester City getting their money from?
Kevin Keegan has spent £46 million on players in 18 months.
He has built a team which has City fans believing great years are on the way in the beautiful new Eastlands Stadium which they are getting for free. But is there a price to pay?
City do not have this kind of money. They are borrowing it, mostly in the form of a long term loan they have secured on the basis of future ticket sales.
Like Bolton and so many other clubs, all the money they get from television goes to pay the wage bill and they have no sugar daddy bankrolling the club so the ambition they are showing is being financed by banks.
I don't like to spoil the party but there are three questions which need answering.
Where will the money come from if City want to buy players in the future?
What happens when the banks call in the debts?
What makes City any different to other Premiership clubs who are finding that past overspending has led to present crisis?
