THEY say there are 365 churches on Malta - one to pray in for every day of the year.
Devoutly Catholic, many do just that, with a morning Mass kicking off the day before sunbreak.
The Mosta Dome close to the centre of the island is a mightily impressive building, similar to St Paul's Cathedral in London.
In April, 1942, a Luftwaffe bomb pierced the church roof, bounced on the floor, and refused to explode - to the relief of the huge congregation cowering in the pews.
You can see a replica in the church sacristy.
The design of the church, the Rotunda, was based on the Roman Pantheon and its dome is the third largest in the world.
