THE Day Unit is one of the Hospice's latest ventures -- and staff and patients are equally pleased with the facilities.
The light and airy building cost £1.5 million and opened its doors to patients in January last year.
Up to 10 adults over the age of 21 are cared for by the 68 skilled staff and an army of 400 volunteers.
The Unit is designed with patients in mind. The bathroom, for example, has a bath that can be moved in an upright position, aromatic oils and special music can be added.
There is also a Snoozalum with special lights, music and a reclining chair. Outdoors has been re-created indoors with a garden room, water features and plants, paid for with money raised by some carers.
Of course, patients can just enjoy a chat with other patients and the staff, read a book, or listen to music if they want -- the choice is theirs.
