THEY may have arrived in masks, but the guests who attended a charity event could not disguise their generosity.
A total of 570 people raised thousands of pounds at a masked ball held at the Reebok Stadium to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Bolton Hospice.
The black tie event featured comedian Stu Francis as master of ceremonies, pop band The Ivy League, Frank Sinatra impressionist Russell Shaun and classical guitarists the Bleasdale Duo.
Deborah Smallridge, assistant financial officer at the Chorley New Road hospice and an organiser of the ball, said: "It was absolutely fantastic. The room was beautifully set out and we had a wonderful time.
"The people of Bolton are very generous."
Mrs Smallridge also thanked Lesley Thompson, who volunteered her time to organise Saturday's £65-a-head bash. There is no final figure yet on the amount of money raised, but it is expected to run into thousands of pounds.
