Bolton Hospice has a Tenth Anniversary Year Plan of special fund-raising events.

Here is a taste of activities planned:

Pound for Pound Sponsored Slim -- While losing pounds you can be gaining pounds to support the Bolton Hospice. Information packs which contain sponsorship forms and slimming tips are available from the Campaign Office;

Spare Change Collection Box -- Boxes will be posted out with the Tenth Anniversary Communicator and are also available by contacting the Campaign Office at Bolton Hospice;

The Strongest Link, Pubs and Clubs Quiz Challenge -- The hospice is on the look-out for local people, pubs and clubs to organise individual or league quiz competitions with all entry fees going towards the work of Bolton Hospice. The Hospice offers help with posters, tickets and press releases.

The Hospice's next fund-raising event is a musical celebration evening at Victoria Hall, Bolton on March 2.

David Praill, the Chief Executive of Help the Hospices, is guest speaker.

The evening, sponsored by Peter and Margaret Flower Shop, is set to be filled with an array of local musical talent to suit all tastes.

BALLOON RACE, Town Hall Square on March 2 (Sponsor: Party Snobs)

There will be a spectacular launch of hundreds of balloons on the Town Hall Square at 1pm with the help of Bolton Market Radio.

Balloons will be on sale at the launch and before the date from Party Snobs and Bolton Hospice, priced at just £1. The winner of the furthest travelling balloon will receive a cash prize of £50.

MASKED BALL, Premier Suite, Reebok Stadium on March 9 (Sponsor: Travel Counsellors Limited)

This unique, high profile event promises to be a memorable occasion. The evening will be held within the Premier Suite at the Reebok Stadium and start at 7.15pm.

Guests will be greeted with a Champagne reception, followed by an exquisite 4-course meal and a fabulous line-up of entertainment.

APRIL

DEDICATE A ROSE BUSH AS A LASTING GIFT TO A LOVED ONE (Supported by Bolton Metro)

A commemorative bed of roses will be planted in the centre of Queen's Park, where people can dedicate a rose bush in memory of, or as a gift to, a loved one.

The roses will be a beautiful pink variety, to represent the Bolton Hospice logo "rose of compassion" and they will bloom year after year as an ever-lasting memento.

Each rose bush will be labelled with the name of the person to whom it is dedicated and the area will also be marked with a special plaque.

There will be a short dedication service of the rose bed, attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Bolton, on Sunday, April 14, at 2pm, in Queens Park.

You can dedicate a Rose Bush for a suggested donation of £20 (please feel free to make a donation of your own choice) for which you will also receive a special certificate to acknowledge your support. Dedication forms are available from Bolton Hospice Campaign Office.

There is a limited number of only 400 rose bushes, so please return your dedication form as soon as possible.

MAY

FAMILY & PETS SPONSORED WALKS

These are two sponsored walks to commemorate the anniversary -- there is the Family Sponsored Walk and the Morecambe Bay Walk.

There will be varying distances available for both beginners and enthusiastic ramblers alike. But, most of all, both events promise to be fun for all the family.

The Family Sponsored Walk will incorporate picturesque landscapes such as Rivington and Winter Hill. The Morecambe Bay Walk will take place at the coast on the beach. Details of dates and distances will be included in the next Bolton Hospice Communicator.

JUNE

EAST LANCASHIRE RAILWAY STEAM TRAIN DINER on June 14 (Sponsor: Peter and Margaret Flower Shop)

Why not treat yourself, a loved one and friends to something different this year and join us on this relaxing, exquisite evening.

You will be treated to a Brass Band and Bucks Fizz reception as you board the East Lancashire Steam Train at Bolton Street Station, Bury.

Once on board you will dine in restored Pullman coaches while travelling through the beautiful scenery of the Irwell Valley. What better way of spending an early summer's evening?

Tickets are priced at £29.50 each, which includes a delicious 3-course meal.

Early reservations are advisable as tickets for this event last year sold out within a few weeks.

MEB CAR RALLY on June 16

The Hospice is working to recreate the Maurice Edwards Car, which originated in Bolton in the 1920s.

This is one of many events organised to raise funds to help recreate this record-breaking car and raise money towards the running costs of Bolton Hospice.

All vintage/classic and cherished car owners are invited to enter the rally, which starts at Le Mans Crescent, travelling through the Lancashire countryside and finishing at Horwich College where you can then relax and enjoy a buffet lunch.

GO YELLOW WEEK between June 15-22

The month of June will once again see the start of our Yellow Appeal with various yellow-themed fund-raising events.

The hospice is on the look-out for as many people as possible to organise their own yellow tea parties during this special week to raise much needed funds.

Your yellow tea party could include ... yellow face painting, yellow cake stalls, yellow sweets, raffle of yellow items, dress in yellow for the day, serving yellow food, playing yellow-themed songs.

We are also looking for employees and business to wear yellow for a day, sell yellow ribbons, get someone sponsored to sit in a bath of custard or have a sponsored custard pie throwing.

YELLOW TEA PARTY on June 15

This event marks the start of Yellow Week.

The tea party will be held within the Conference Room within our New Day Unit Extension. All stalls and refreshments will have a yellow theme. Donated goods welcome. Can you organise your own Yellow Tea Party to raise funds? Please contact the Campaign Office on 520040.

FLAG DAY on June 22 in Bolton town centre

As our annual Flag Day falls at the end of Yellow Week, we will be incorporating the 'Yellow' theme by selling Yellow ribbons around the various locations in Bolton town centre from 9am until 1pm.

JULY

THE HALLE ORCHESTRA COMES TO BOLTON TO PRESENT THE LAST NIGHT OF THE PROMS on July 6 (Sponsor: Warburtons and TDG)

To celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee, the Halle Orchestra is back by popular demand to perform classic favourites including Land of Hope and Glory, Jerusalem and Rule Britannia.

The magical mix of live orchestral music combined with audience participation provides an electric atmosphere and is the reason that this event sells out again and again.

The venue, Victoria Hall, is a beautiful 101-year-old local landmark which has superb acoustics and facilities and lends itself perfectly to this event.

ANNUAL GOLF DAY at Bolton Golf Club on July 11

Local businesses as well as individual teams entered in the previous six Golf Days --

It is organised as a shotgun start at 1.30pm followed by a meal and prize presentation in the evening. The cost per team of four will be £220.

AUGUST

FLOWER FESTIVAL on August 9-11

Local Flower Groups will be helping to create an array of beautiful floral arrangements which will each depict the work of Bolton Hospice.

All arrangements will be on display in the Day Unit at Bolton Hospice and they will be raffled or auctioned at the end of the event.

Refreshments will be available and there will also be various stalls on display. Tickets will be priced £2.

HOT COALS CHALLENGE on August 14

This is a challenge to conquer your own self-limitation and achieve a sense of empowerment.

With the help of professionals we are inviting the public to walk over a 20ft path of red-hot coals.

This sponsored event will take place after a self-empowerment course at Bolton Town Hall and the optional Fire Walk will take place on Bolton Town Hall Square followed by celebrations and a BBQ.

SEPTEMBER

ANNUAL BALL at the Last Drop Hotel on September 14 (Sponsor: by Cheshire Building Society)

This year's ball promises to be another superb night to remember.

Guests will be greeted with a Bucks Fizz reception, followed by a delicious 3-course meal with coffee and mints.

A lively disco and fabulous music from live band "Brassed Off" will have you dancing the night away.

Tickets are priced at £30 each (tables of 10 -- £300) which are available from the Campaign Office.

OCTOBER

40s NIGHT at the Festival Hall (Bolton Albert Halls) on October 5

If you are a forties fan and like to reminisce about the good old days, this event will be just up your street. You can dance the night away or just relax and enjoy the live music performed by the superb nine-piece Art Lester Band.

Why not also dress up in forties clothes to really get into the spirit.

Tickets are £12.50 each, which also includes a delicious buffet dinner, are available from the Campaign Office.

NOVEMBER

SUPERB BLACK TIE CHAMPAGNE DINNER at Salford University on November 19

Why not sample fine food and Champagne at this elegant Black Tie Dinner at Salford University.

Guests will be greeted with canaps and Champagne which will be followed by an exquisite three-course dinner ending with coffee and petit fours.

Talented chef, Patrick Troden (Head of Gastronome at Salford University) will talk about his life and food along with a guest speaker from a nominated Champagne house.

DECEMBER

CHRISTMAS BAZAAR on December 7 and 8

This is an excellent opportunity to buy early Christmas presents.

Stalls will include Molly's Antiques, White Elephant, Walter Howarth's portraits, cakes, raffle, Aunty Vee's soft toy tombola and crafts.

The Campaign Office Shop will also be open to purchase your Christmas cards, calendars and decorations while enjoying a glass of sherry.

Tickets are free and available for each day from the campaign office, the main Hospice reception and the Day Unit reception.
