CHILDREN have shown the way in getting the pride into Bolton -- by helping their mums and dads sweep the streets.
They tidied up their neighbourhood in Horwich as part of the Brazley Residents' Association annual spring clean.
Parents and members of the committee encourage a small army of young volunteers to go out and pick up litter every year.
They hope it will encourage them to have even more respect for where they live.
Steve Rock, the association's secretary, said: "We have been organising spring clean up campaigns for the past eight years.
"A lot of children take up the challenge by picking up litter near their homes and in Ainsworth Avenue and Brazley Avenue.
"It teaches them to have a bit of pride in where they live -- and will hopefully encourage them to keep the place tidy before out next clean up in 12 months time.
"We give them sweets and bottles of pop to thank them for doing the work."
Members of the association have just been handed Neighbourhood Renewal Funding to put more play equipment in a park off Ainsworth Avenue.
They hope it will become a place children will use instead of hanging about on the streets.
Mr Rock said: "We're working hard to improve our area and we think other communities should try to do the same. It's good to have a bit of pride in where you live."
