A TEENAGER who won a scholarship to breed horses has delivered her first foal -- and the owner is none other than Her Majesty the Queen!
Leanne Baines, aged 18, was on hand to deliver the Very Important Horse and the Queen popped down to the stables at the Royal Stud in Sandringham to see Leanne and the new arrival the next day.
Leanne, of Sydney Avenue, Leigh, who has just began her NVQ course in Breeding and Training Racehorses at Sandringham, said the whole experience had been emotional.
She said: "I was so nervous when I was delivering the foal, I had to support her head during the birth. I was so overwhelmed that I started crying. Delivering the Queen's foal and being the first foal that I delivered was something else.
"The Queen was so down to earth when she came to the stables to see the foal, she was cracking jokes with all the staff there. I was introduced to her, although I didn't actually speak with her.
"I'm really enjoying the course, it's going well. Breeding horses is something that I really want to do, and my dream is to have my own stud farm."
And Leanne's mum, Elaine, said that everyone in her family were so proud.
She said: "Leanne has done so well for herself."
