THREE times as much money has been spent on the arts in Manchester and Liverpool than in London over the last year.
Among the biggest investments were £50 million on the new Urbis museum of urban living near Victoria Station in Manchester and the Imperial War Museum in Trafford.
Altogether investment totalling £100 million has been rewarded with a 50 per cent rise in visitor numbers.
