SIX people have been arrested after three teenage girls took the drug ecstasy while at school.
Police were called to St Aiden's High School, in Preesall, Lancashire, on Thursday after children told staff a pupil in the school had ecstasy tablets.
Ambulance crews were called and three 15-year-old girls were taken to hospital, with one kept in overnight for observation, although none are seriously ill.
Police recovered several hundred ecstasy tablets after raiding a house in Beech Road, Fleetwood.
They arrested five men and one woman - all aged in their 20s - on suspicion of possessing and supplying illegal drugs.
A small number of ecstasy tablets were also found at the school.
Headteacher Reverend Dr Alan Leeson told BBC News Online it was the first ecstasy-related incident he had dealt with in 11-and-a-half years at the school.
He added: "We will not tolerate the use of drugs at our school and will always involve the police.
"We are trying to use this as an opportunity to make it clear how dangerous drugs are.
"It only takes one of these tablets to kill - there's plenty of evidence for that happening."
