FAN'S VIEW - By Alex Sankey

WHEN West Brom substitute Andy Johnson forced the ball over the line deep into added on time, Wanderers were cruelly denied two vital safety points.

However, with another round of Premiership matches completed, they have once again strengthened their position.

They dominated the first half at The Hawthorns with Youri Djorkaeff, Jay-Jay Okocha and Per Frandsen pulling the strings in midfield and the defence standing up well to Albion's physical challenge with Ivan Campo commanding at the heart.

Wanderers took the lead in the 18th minute when a fantastic run by Bernard Mendy culminated with Russell Hoult failing to hold Youri's well-placed shot and Henrik Pedersen was on hand to finish with his second goal in successive matches.

Henrik showed that he is not easily going to relinquish his place in the face of the "window" signings. He gave a display full of energy, running and intelligent use of the ball.

The second half saw a spirited onslaught from Albion and, while it was evident that they do not possess Bolton's overall quality, they showed terrific resilience in keeping going right to the end, which eventually brought them their reward.

This, however, should not detract from what is still a good point for Bolton.

Big Sam's side also showed their fighting qualities in combating Albion's rugged and aggressive second half display and, towards the end, they also had the chances to add to their lead.

Jussi Jaaskelainen made some excellent saves under a constant aerial bombardment, Bernard Mendy's game is going from strength to strength after returning so quickly from such a serious injury and Campo has modified his game to the demands of the Premiership - one second half tackle in the area was utterly sensational.

Overall there is a lot of cause of optimism.

Man of the Match: Henrik Pedersen.
