MOTORISTS are being warned to expect delays as safety work is undertaken on the crash barriers along one of Bury's busiest roads.
But in a bid to minimise disruption the work will be suspended during rush-hour periods.
The work, which will start tomorrow, and last up to eight weeks will involve repairing and replacing crash barriers on the A56 Peel Way. The work is necessary to meet changing legal and safety standards.
A Bury Council spokesman said the inside lanes on both carriageways will be closed. The work will be suspended during the busy periods of 7.30am-9am and 4pm-6pm.
The spokesman added: "Obviously there will be some travel difficulties so, as always in these kind of circumstances, we would advise drivers to find alternative routes where possible."
By having restricted hours working we hope to cut delays for motorists as much as possible.
