WE hear from a leaked UN document that 500,000 Iraqi citizens will be killed or seriously injured in the first five days of the war.
From the USA, we hear that bomber Bush and poodle Blair are intending to fire 800 Cruise Missiles, some with nuclear-tipped warheads -- so the leaked UN document comes as no surprise.
Yet we hear from the apologists of the war that it is to save the citizens of Iraqi. It seems a strange way to save citizens by bombing them with more tonnage than used in the Second World War by all sides. The war is about oil and the USA imperialists taking control over the world.
When Deborah Schlemer argues that the USA has enough problems of its own, she could not be more right! It has millions who live in poverty while working long hours on minimum wages. Its citizens are denied health provision if they cannot pay for it. Yet the USA is the richest nation on earth. The USA is willing to spend billions of dollars on killing hundred of thousands of innocent civilians in Iraq while denying its own people a decent standard of living. This is why millions of American citizens are demonstrating against the war.
I have nothing against the hard-working people of the USA, but am opposed to its leaders wreaking an all-out war on Iraq. If the USA gets away with this warmongering, who will be next? North Korea? Cuba? China? It could be any nation that won't play ball with the USA. We must stop this war and let Blair know that it is not being done in our name!
I would urge all people opposed to this war to attend the National Demonstration in London on February 15. There will be millions of people throughout the world, including the USA, demonstrating against the war on this day. We must stop this war before Bush and Blair start murdering the innocent.
