The children on two photographs taken at Blackrod Wesleyan School in the 1920s were being honoured because they had not been absent from school over the previous 12 months.
The pictures have been sent to me by Mr Joe Randell, of Ridgeway, Blackrod, who tells me that in the 1922 picture the youngsters are: Back row, from left, Jimmy Arstall, Tommy Hailwood, Edith Maudsley, Cyril Watkins,x Harry Edge. Middle row, Billy Randell (Joe's brother), Joe himself, Jack Maguire, Walter Preston, Bertie Poll.
Front row, Stella Beresford, Marjorie Williams, Marian Grimshaw, Phylis Lee, Dorothy Maudsley. On the 1925 photograph, the names are, back row, Joe Randell, Maggie Gardner, Jack Blackburn. In front were Arthur Entwistle and Cliff Preston.
