BOLTON Holiday week, 1939, and these first year pupiles (Shell A) at Bolton School were photographed at camp at Stonethwaite, Borrowdale, in the Lake District.
The picture has been sent to me by Fred Sharples, of Lee Bank, Westhoughton, who names the boys as, from left, Bob Morris, Chris (I think) Horrocks, Alan (Monty) Knowles, Gordon Crompton, Fred Sharples, and Norman Entwistle.
Alan Knowles later became a journalist at the Evening News, and then went to the BBC.
