SECOND placed Breightmet United closed the gap on Manchester League First Division leaders Ashton Athletic in emphatic fashion with a 5-1 home win over the Latics, Gary Goodinson, Dean Banks and Phil Heap adding to a Paul Aldred brace for United, John Lightfoot netting Ashton's consolation goal.
Wythenshawe Town continued their recent rally with a 2-0 win at Hindsford AFC, Mark Fairclough and Russ Attuquayefio scoring the goals which see Town climb above Highfield United into third.
In the Premier league Leigh Athletic closed the gap by inflicting a first home defeat of the season on Wilmslow Albion with a 3-1 win, Danny Wilson opening the scoring for the Latics before Rob Martin levelled for the Cheshire side, but further strikes from Gordon Walker and Craig Falconer sealed a fine win for the visitors.
