SELF defence students are being given the chance to learn from a double world champion.
Patricia Basterra, who won two golds and a silver in last year's Tai Chi Chuan World Championships in America, runs England's most successful stable outside London and is moving into Bolton.
She already has training centres in Bury and Rochdale and is opening a third camp on Chorley Old Road. She is something of a legend within the sport, having produced an unforgettable performance in last year's stamina-sapping three-day Texas event.
Giving away up to 20 years on her big American and Chinese rivals, the over-50 star beat all comers to strike gold in the health and relaxation and self defence sections as well as finishing second in her wrestling category.
