A 46-year-old headteacher who has been missing since he left for work on Monday morning has been found safe and well, police said today.
Father-of-two Michael Ironmonger disappeared after leaving his home in Harmol Grove, Ashton-under-Lyne, to drive to Norton Thorpe Hall School, in Busker Lane, Scissett, near Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.
Mr Ironmonger's wife Lesley, 43, yesterday appealed for her husband - known as Mick - to get in touch and let her and his two daughters, aged 11 and 15, know he is safe.
A Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman said: "Mr Ironmonger contacted his family from Cumbria and arrived back home just after midnight today."
