LEISURE chiefs in Wigan have backed a radical plan to give extreme sports a boost.

A recent survey by Wigan council shows that extreme sports like skateboarding, in-line skating and BMX-ing are as big as ever across the borough, including Leigh, Tyldesley and Atherton.

Walmsley Park, in Ince, has received a recent makeover, with new ramps and slides and is to be officially launched by the council soon.

It is now hoped that smaller versions of the park can be created throughout the borough.
