WELL, that's it, folks, Christmas Day gone for another year.
But before the festive season comes to an end, there are the pantomimes, and this year, as has become a tradition, until the New Year I will be printing pictures of pantos from yesteryear. I hope that you enjoy seeing them.
As some of you know, I used to play in pantomime myself, usually as Dame. The year that I played an Ugly Sister in Cinderella, though, it was decided that I needed only a wig, and no make-up! Only kidding! (Who was that who shouted: "Oh no, you're not?) Today (top) I show you the cast of the Daubhill Methodist Church production of "Cinderella" in 1963, above, and the Sweetloves Amateur Operatic Society show "Jack and the Beanstalk (below) in 1975.
Pictured, from the left, are Robin Foster as the King, Joyce Bates as Jack, Anne Williamson as the Princess, and Iris Gibbons as Jennie.
