SECURITY continues to be tight at Manchester Airport in line with other airports across the country.

Extra officers were drafted in from across the Greater Manchester force on Tuesday night after police chiefs decided to increase patrols at and around the three terminals.

Armed officers are carrying out random spot checks on vehicles travelling to and from the airport.

The top levels of the three multi storey car parks which have views of the airfield have were also closed to vehicles and pedestrians.

Military personnel are currently not being deployed at the airport.
