ROMANCE is not dead as one Romeo proved this week when he went public with his proposal.
The secret suitor took advantage of a charity's 'Take Note of you Heart' fundraising campaign, which lets lovers leave a message to their Valentine in the window of their shops.
Suzanne Ellis, manager of the British Heart Foundation store in Market Walk, Chorley, said: "We don't know who this man was.
"He was in his mid-40s and his girlfriend is called Ronnie.
"It is a lovely thing to do and it's certainly an unusual way to propose."
To leave a love note shoppers and passers-by had to make a minimum donation of £1.
But the campaign has a serious message to it. Every year almost four times as many women die from heart disease than from breast cancer, yet there is not much knowledge of this among women.
