TODAY, the Bolton Evening News launches a campaign to ask the council to think again about increasing car parking charges.

We are joining forces with traders and businesses who say enough is enough. For the sake of the future of the town centre the council must reconsider its decision.

Traders fear more shoppers are being driven out to neighbouring towns where parking charges are cheaper. It costs £1.80 to park for three hours in Bolton Council's Folds Road car park compared to 70p for the same length of time in Bury.

And as part of our campaign, we are printing a coupon for readers to sign. We will collect them and present them to council chiefs in a bid to get them to reconsider and make Bolton a town which welcomes motorists.
