WEDDING days are special occasions for many people, but some Bolton couples were hoping to add extra Valentine's day magic to their ceremonies by tying the knot today.
A number of couples have chosen to seal their union on the day which celebrates loving partnerships, at Bolton Registry Office.
One set of lovebirds, Deidre Forrest, aged 35 and Craig Watson, aged 29, of Daisy Hill, Westhoughton said it was the romance associated with the day, that had driven them to pick it.
Miss Forest said: "It is just such a romantic day and we feel very lucky to have got the spot. I could not believe it when I rang up and they had it.
"Now we will be able to celebrate our anniversary on the special day every year for the rest of our lives. If he forgets I will kill him."
After holding their reception the couple, who met while working for Bolton Primary Care Trust, plan to jet to Cancun in Mexico for two weeks.
Another couple, Amanda Hunt, aged 30, and Kieran Watson, aged 25 of Tonge Moor also said they had chosen the day because of its romantic connotations.
