A FATHER and son escaped from a blaze at their home -- after being woken by a smoke alarm they installed only a week ago.
Firefighters doused the flames at the house in Cheltenham Road, Cheadle Heath, Cheshire, just after 2am.
They said the fire would have been a lot worse if the two men had not been alerted by the alarm.
Meanwhile, firefighters rescued a man in his early 40s from his home in Cadman Grove, Hindley, after a kitchen blaze at 11pm on Wednesday.
