ONCE again the residents around Tonge Moor cricket ground are being subjected to problems with masts for mobile telephone companies.
The new plan is to remove the existing mast and replace it with a much taller mast. What the telephone companies don't tell us, is the existing mast only serves one telephone company. The new mast would serve some five or six companies. This would not only increase the emissions five or six times, but these emissions would be on five or six different frequencies, thereby increasing the risk of any health hazard.
The existing phone mast is approximately 200m from the rear of my house, and is in full view from my kitchen windows. It was erected approximately 12 months ago, and, in all that time, I have yet to see a bird of any description use the mast to perch on. Could it be that the birds know something that we don't? Or know something that we are not allowed to know?
