NO changes at the top of the Premier Division in the Bolton Table Tennis League, but Horwich Hilton move up two places on the strength of their 5-4 win at Tameside, which included three wins by John Hilton and two by Bill Russell.

Little Lever scored maximum points against bottom team Mosses, while Farnworth won 7-2 at Wharton, and Lostock beat Cricketers 6-3, trebles in these matches for Lyndsey Thornton and Adam Bleakley.

Division One leaders Carlton scored a comprehensive 8-1 win over Mosses, and Little Lever B move into second spot after their 8-1 win against Hilton B. Three wins apiece by Alex Waring and George Simpson plus two by Dave Bolton gave Ladybridge a resounding 8-1 win at Wharton.

In the other two matches John Scowcroft trebled for Heaton and John Bradbury for Wingates in their respective team victories.

Rushtons have moved off the bottom of Division Two after their 6-3 win over Nomads, which included three wins by Brian Lowden, two by Geoff Rushton and one by Mick Kitchen.

Heaton C in second spot scored maximum points at Hilton C, and BEN A in third place scored an 8-1 win at Egerton Park. Steve Barber's treble for Heaton D proved decisive in their 5-4 win at Halls. Only five points separate the top three teams in Division Three. The new leaders are Ladybridge D who have a two point advantage over Meadow Hill A, with Hilton F close on their heels a further three points behind with matches in hand. All three scored comprehensive wins this week.

Elsewhere Heaton E won 5-4 at Ladybridge C thanks to a treble by Alan Crompton, and trebles were also recorded by Steve Evans for Rammy D, Dave Marland for Hilton E and Mark Martin and Alan Price for Little Lever.

Eamon McEntee three wins, Mike Roberts two and Jean Smart one gave Division Four leaders Hilton J a 6-3 scoreline against Meadow Hill C. The win gives them an 11 point advantage over their Hilton I in second place who lost 6-3 at Ladybridge E. John Birchall Snr and Fred Parker winning three sets apiece for Ladybridge.

Three wins by Dave Bevitt plus two by Colin Roberts gave Heaton F a 5-4 win at Jubilee, they then went on to beat Hilton L by the same score with John Pilkington recording a treble for the losers.

In the cup competitions next week all the teams involved will be advised of the handicaps, if there are any problems please contact the match secretary.
