Forest eye Cooper
COLIN Cooper is hoping to earn a new contract at Middlesbrough when his current deal runs out in the summer.
However, the 35-year-old stopper is being tracked by Nottingham Forest, with whom he spent several successful seasons in the 1990s.
Alan heads south
IRELAND international Alan Maybury, currently with Hearts, is a target for Everton boss David Moyes. The 24-year-old began his career at Leeds United before moving north of the border and was called into Brian Kerr's first international squad this week.
Ipswich clear out
CRISIS club Ipswich will attempt to get their finances back on track in the summer by selling Matt Holland, Darren Ambrose and Darren Bent. Holland is set to finally join Aston Villa, while the two strikers are big money targets for Newcastle and Blackburn.
Tel eyes Koumas
JASON Koumas could be heading for the exit door at West Brom after just one season if Gary Megson's side are relegated. Leeds are believed to be interested with a deal involving £2 million plus Michael Duberry on the cards. The Welsh international has also been a target for Everton.
Spurs set for Barry bid
GLENN Hoddle will sign England prospect Gareth Barry for £7 million in the summer. The versatile 21-year-old believes that a move to the capital will help his international chances - his last cap came in 2000. Barry is currently playing on the left of midfield for Graham Taylor's side but can also star on the left or centre of defence.
Glenn Hoddle is a big fan of Barry and would gladly break the bank for his services.
Cash for Cassano
MANCHESTER United are ready to offer £20 million for Roma's pacy striker Antonio Cassano, who joined the Italian giants from Bari for the same fee in 2001. The 20-year-old is seen as one of Italy's hottest prospects but the financial problems in Serie A may force boss Fabio Capello to sell his prodigy.
Pauleta hunt
A NUMBER of English clubs are interested in Portuguese forward Pauleta, who is desperate to leave Bordeaux for the Premiership. Liverpool lead the hunt and could offer £4 million for his services in July, with Manchester City and Chelsea also chasing France's top scorer.
