A BAKERY firm says it is confident all faulty loaves containing small strands of nylon have been removed from the shelves.
Bolton-based Warburtons appealed for 12 brands to be returned after the problems were spotted.
A spokeswoman said: "We believe Warburtons acted responsibly by issuing a recall notice. All products which were the subject of the recall were withdrawn from stores on the day of the recall.
"The best before dates on the loaves have now since passed."
The loaves went on sale in parts of northern England and throughout Scotland.
Warburtons said only a small number of loaves were likely to contain the nylon. But the number of its brands affected meant the figure was likely to run into thousands.
The problem occurred at a bakery in Bellshill, Glasgow, when a nylon flour sieve was damaged.
People were offered a full refund.
Warburtons has 11 bakeries around the country, serving customers from Inverness to Basingstoke. The Bolton bakery is at Hereford Street.
Five generations have been involved in the family business since it was founded in Bolton in 1876 by Thomas Warburton.
