A MAN who repeatedly performed indecent acts in front of children has been jailed for two years.

Brian Sayle parked his vehicle opposite a play area in Kearsley and on another occasion, he exposed himself to two schoolgirls.

The 55-year-old, of Edditch Grove, Tonge Fold, pleaded guilty to outraging public decency and indecency with a child at Manchester Crown Court in Minshull Street.

The courrt was told that Sayle was spotted on a housing estate in Farnworth driving slowly in his white Astra van and performing an indecent act.

A mother spotted him from an upstairs window on Lupin Avenue. She called one of her children and a friend who were playing outside to come inside.

The woman took the registration number of the car and called the police but shortly afterwards, Sayle was seen again on nearby Central Avenue.

Two young girls aged eight were sitting on a paving box in the roadway and he called them over.

He exposed himself to the youngsters who then ran off.

Sayle was not apprehended until five months later when he was spotted performing an indecent act after parking opposite a children's play area in Kearsley.

The court heard he had previous convictions for indecent exposure, indecent assault and gross indecency.

Passing sentence Judge Martin Steiger QC said: "You are a potential risk to the public."
