A 31-year-old man died because he consumed a lethal combination of heroin and alcohol, an inquest heard.

Roy Anthony Platt, of Tildsley Street, Bolton, had been with his uncle George Platt at his father's home on Settle Street, Great Lever, on October 3 while his father was away in Wales.

Roy Platt, who had been trying to quit his heroin habit, had been drinking that day, when they both decided to take heroin.

George Platt left his nephew at 10pm that night. Mr Platt was later found dead by George Platt, a family relative and a neighbour the following day.

The cause of death for Mr Platt was that he had taken both heroin and alcohol together, and his body was unable to tolerate the heroin -- because he was not a regular user.

Coroner Jennifer Leeming concluded that Mr Platt died due to drugs poisioning.
