SATURDAY: OLD habits die hard. Wanderers are just 90 seconds away from taking maximum points in their big Premiership survival battle at West Brom until Baggies' midfielder Andy Johnson snatches a dramatic equaliser in overtime.
On a day when other results go in their favour, they miss a chance to go seven points above Gary Megson's Albion and comfortably clear of the relegation zone. It's the proverbial "game of two halves" with Henrik Pedersen netting his fifth goal of the season in a first period which Wanderers dominate. But they are pegged back in the second and eventually pay a high price - two valuable points - for a late lapse. Kevin Nolan is named in the England U21 squad for the friendly in Italy.
SUNDAY
WANDERERS jet out to Dubai for six days of warm-weather training.
MONDAY
SAM Allardyce slams the FA as "an absolute joke" for leaving it so late to call up Kevin Nolan, showing no consideration for arrangements Wanderers have made. The Premier League uphold Pedersen's claim to be credited with Wanderers' second goal in the 4-2 victory over Birmingham.
TUESDAY
NOLAN makes his U21s debut as a second half substitute in Italy, where England lose 1-0. Bernard Mendy returns for the French U21s, who beat the Czech Republic to record their sixth successive victory. Gudni Bergsson tells his team-mates they must win the physical battles before relying on their quality players to win the fight to stay in the Premiership.
WEDNESDAY
MIKE Whitlow says his former team-mate Michael Ricketts has the talent to become an England regular if he knuckles down at Middlesbrough ... Jussi Jaaskelainen impresses in Finland's 1-0 victory over Northern Ireland in Belfast ... Ricardo Gardner and Jermaine Johnson are on the losing side as Jamaica go down 2-1 to the United States in Kingston.
THURSDAY
KEVIN Poole is ready to sign an extension to his Reebok contract, which could see him playing Premiership fooball at the age of 40. Meanwhile, Wanderers are enjoying some light relief on their Dubai trip with camel trekking and 4x4 races in the desert. But the word from the Sharjah Beach resort is that the players have worked hard to earn their leisure time.
FRIDAY
MIKE Whitlow sets his sights on a speedy return from injury to help Wanderers in their battle to beat the drop but, with his contract expiring in the summer, is not sure if he will be around next season to enjoy the fruits of his labours.
