ENSEMBLE Productions makes its debut visit to The Octagon Theatre, Bolton with Portraits In Song, a musical celebration of the works of Edith Piaf and Bertolt Brecht.

Performer Elizabeth Mansfield provides gripping portraits of Piaf and Brecht, bringing them vividly to life in a full, dramatic evening, interwoven with their memorable songs.

Piaf and Brecht may well be as far apart as you can get, yet connect by contrast -- Piaf engages the heart, and Brecht the mind. Brecht's songs, like Piaf's, are full of fantastic theatricality and drama and through the single voice two powerfully different world views emerge.

The songs will be performed by Mansfield in English, many in new translations by award winning writer Steve Trafford. Musical director, Russell Churney, will accompany on piano.

Ensemble Productions is Elizabeth Mansfield's own theatre company. Past stage productions have earned her an Olivier Award nomination for best actress in a musical, while in radio she was nominated for best actress in the 1991 Sony Radio Drama Awards.

Portraits In Song will be performed on Saturday, March 1, at 7.30pm.
