A WOMAN was left unconscious and covered in blood after a savage beating by her partner, a court was told.
Steven Comber attacked Lynn Cope, strangling her to unconsciousness and smashing her in the face.
The next day when Comber saw Cope's injuries he asked what had happened. She told him he had assaulted her and he replied that she had fallen.
Comber, aged 43, of Blackshaw House, Deane, Bolton, was jailed for 18 months for the attack.
Recorder Stephen Bedford said the couple had been in a relationship "categorised by violence".
"On that night you inflicted serious harm on your partner after you had been drinking all day. The courts cannot tolerate this kind of violence in the home."
Comber had appeared at Bolton Crown Court for sentence. He admitted a charge of causing grievous bodily harm to Cope.
