Q: I have a jug in the shape of a fish, and on it there are the words Plymouth Gin. It is about 12 inches tall and dark green in colour. Is it worth anything?
Mr K
A: This is a water jug made for use in pubs, and dates from the 1950s. It was almost certainly made by the Dartmouth Pottery, who often used this fish design. Value would be about £30-£40. Many drinks manufacturers commissioned water jugs, which served as constant advertisements in bars.
