Q: I have a painting called the Wedding Morning by John Bacon. Also I have some books -- one is called The Best of the Brothers Grimm, published by the Treasure Press, the others are a two volume edition of the Complete Works of William Shakespeare, printed in America and dated 1853. Do any of these have any value?
Mr H
The painting appears to be a fairly modern replica of a famous painting by John Bacon, who died in 1914. Value would be modest -- about £20. The Brothers Grimm book is a modern edition from the 1980s and has no appreciable value. The Shakespeare edition is worth £30 to £40. Although quite old, Shakespeare editions have been churned out on a massive scale over the years, and are not in great demand by collectors.
