BLACKROD Town committed three defensive errors and paid the price with a 3-0 defeat by Charnock Richard, their West Lancashire League rivals and league leaders.
Charnock went ahead on nine minutes when the Blackrod keeper lost sight of the ball against the bright sunshine and allowed a hopeful chip shot to go into the net.
That was compounded a minute into the second half when a Blackrod pass across their own penalty area was intercepted and converted by the eager Charnock attack.
And eight minutes later it was all over after hesitancy by two defenders allowed Sanderson to hit his second of the game.
Lee Powell, Mick Crispin and Kris Arkwright did their best to lift Blackrod but Charnock's superior strength told in the end.
