EAGLEY'S six match unbeaten sequence came to an end on Saturday in the West Lancs Premier Division when they went down 1-0 to local rivals Turton in front of a large crowd at Dunscar Bridge.
In a game littered by petty fouls the Villagers started brightly but it was Turton who almost snatched the lead on five minutes when Adam Entwistle forced Eagley keeper Mark Warren into a superb save from point blank range.
Eagley's manager had been forced into last minute changes before kick off and it was reflected in their defence who looked ill at ease.
On 25 minutes it came as no surprise when Turton, who had looked the more dangerous going forward, took the lead when an Entwistle effort was parried by goalkeeper Warren only to be fired into the net by Turton's Paul Finch.
From then on in the game developed into a scrappy affair and, while Eagley had much of the second half possession, they never looked capable of opening their account leaving manager Pete Darby reflecting on what was "a bad day at the office".
Eagley 2nd XI also lost their unbeaten run. They went down 3-2 to runaway league leaders Fulwood Res ending an unbeaten eight match sequence.
On Saturday Eagley 1st go to Fulwood with the seconds at home to Milnthorpe. Both games kick-off at 3pm.
