LOCAL cricket has been saddened by the death after a long illness of John Hutchinson, aged 71.
John was a leading figure, both on and off the field for Farnworth Social Circle, a club he was associated with for over 40 years.
In his playing days he was second team captain and an opening bat, while over the years also served as club treasurer, league representative and committee member.
He played a great part in Circle bringing in top class professionals from the West Indies as well as being heavily involved in the planning of the Piggott Street ground's new clubhouse.
