FORMER Boltonian Marian Junck (nee Bryce) has sent me three 1940s photographs all the way from Canada.
The one at the bottom shows eight-year-old Marjorie Barlow, practising her song and dance act before other children in her dancing class.
She was to be the youngest performer in a Civil Defence Variety Show at the Theatre Royal in 1943.
Marian writes: "I think the girl bending over on the left is Pat Bamber.
"Next to her is Yvonne Wilson and I am next to Yvonne. Unfortunately I do not remember any one else's name. I also have programmes from shows at the Grand Theatre during the war, which were in aid of the Bolton Royal Infirmary".
The picture above was taken at a performance of the pantomime "Little Miss Muffett" at Saviour's Church, Deane Road, in 1947, and Marian is second from the right at the front.
"The top picture was taken outside Saviour's Church, probably in May, 1947, with Marian on the far left. "We were The Singers", she writes, "and it was taken at Sermons. I think the lady was Mrs Davies".
"I wonder, if you print these photographs, how many others will recognise themselves?" she asks.
Well, if you do, you might want to contact Marian, and her address is 6003-94B Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, T6B OZ5 (e-mail: rosina1@telusplanet.net)
I am sure she would be glad to hear from you.
