THE charity behind plans for a Bolton animal hospital is continuing its efforts to win financial backing.
Supporters of the People's Dispensary for Sick Animals are being urged to be patient in their wait for the hospital, planned for Nelson Street.
The PDSA first made the announcement that they hoped to develop the town centre site more than five years ago.
But with building costs, quoted at £600,000, and probable running costs of £500,000 a year, the charity has said it may be some time before work begins.
Spokeswoman Hannah Sutcliffe said: "We are still committed to the Bolton project, but first we need to secure a lot of funding to pay for it."
The charity had looked at converting buildings in Bolton, but none had met the criteria needed.
She said: "We would like to thank the people of Bolton for all their fundraising efforts so far and assure them we are committed to a project which we hope to complete as soon as possible."
The PDSA has an animal hospital in Trafford open to pet owners on low incomes, or they can call 0800 731 2502 for pet healthcare advice.
