A WELL-respected Bolton accountant has died, aged 71.
Mr David Barlow had lived in the town all his life and was senior partner for many years in the Chorley New Road chartered accountancy practice, Barlow Andrews.
The firm was started in 1922 and his father, James Barlow, was senior partner until his death in 1961.
David Barlow, who was twice President of the Bolton Society of Chartered Accountants, served on the General Practice, Financial Services and Education and Training committees of his professional body, the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
He was President of the Manchester District Society of Chartered Accountants in 1985-86 and in 1992 he became one of only 350 liverymen in the Worshipful Company of Chartered Accountants based in London. He was elected a freeman of the city.
Mr Barlow was a member of Bolton Golf Club and Markland Hill Tennis Club for more than 50 years and also enjoyed foreign travel, bridge and gardening. He was a trustee for 30 years at Bolton Parish Church and was a regular worshipper at Christ Church, Heaton.
He is survived by his wife Rachel and three children.
Two of them live in London and one works in Brazil as a diplomat.
