ROYAL Mail staff have made Comic Relief a red letter day for the charity and are giving up their time to take calls on the night of the event.
Costumed workers and volunteers will man the phones in the Transaction Services department in Farnworth on March 14, taking donations from across the UK.
Manager Melanie Cooke said: "This was a nice way to help Comic Relief because every pound from every phone call goes to help people in the UK and other countries."
The team is also planning a number of other events, including all the staff wearing red to work, some dying their hair and others wearing wacky gear.
Tyldesley Little Theatre has also loaned a number of costumes to staff who will be sponsored for arriving in clown, tiger and other costumes.
Mrs Cooke said: "We have lots of other events planned and some of the men are donning dresses and make-up when they come in to take the calls.
"We are also hoping to have an auction, so if companies would like to donate anything we would be extremely grateful."
