TV presenter Vernon Kay has been specially selected by Chris Evans to host the TV and radio mogul's big comeback.

Bolton born Vernon will front Evans' live new quiz show, Girls and Boys -- which starts a 13-week run on Channel Four in March.

And Evans has nothing but praise for Vernon.

"Vernon's an old-style TV host in a 28-year-old's body," he says. "He epitomises everything that is great about Saturday night television -- he's a real find."

Vernon, whose family still live in Lostock, said: "It feels fantastic, the whole thing is brilliant and the sheer scale of this programme really excites me .

"I mean, a £100,000 winner and hundreds of contestants at a great big party each week -- it's one hell of a gig to be offered!"

Each week, the show will feature 100 boys competing against 100 girls for a cash prize of £100,000.

Amid a party atmosphere packed with games, dancing, celebrity appearances and special guests, the contestants will be quizzed on their favourite subject -- each other.

The winner gets the cash and also gets to choose their favourite member of the opposite sex to help spend it.

"They then go on a wild shopping spree," explains Vernon, "but they have to follow instructions on how to spend the money -- and they'll be filmed every step of the way.

"The following Saturday they come back to the studio where the viewers decide if they've spent wisely. If they have, they keep their shopping -- if not, they go away with nothing."

There is also a Friday night show keeping viewers up to date with events.

Vernon, who ise currently taking a break from T4 while he works on Girls and Boys, adds: "It's a show on a huge scale but it's going to be fantastic fun -- watch it and see."
