ELEMENTS proudly proclaims itself "Bolton's hottest new music venue", and the decor certainly supports this claim, with comfy couches throughout the bar, tasteful lighting, and artistic black and white photography adorning the walls.
However, the bands struggled to create a coherent sound, due partly to the lack of a proper P.A. system.
Mannequin John provided a tasteful, measured set which built to a screaming climax of dirty blues guitar and venomous vocals, astride a thundering rhythmic juggernaut. Definitely one to watch.
Spanglephish delivered a hard-hitting, heavy rocking set, with intricate bass patterns and a Jim Morrison style half naked frontman. Bizarrely, this band brought their own cheerleader, complete with pom-poms, and finished their set with a roaring cover of Kylie's, "Can't get you out of my head"!
A highly entertaining night, although an in-house P.A. would be a definite boon for Elements.
