AFTER the weekend's FA Cup results this season's competition is starting to take shape with the lower divisions well represented.
After having all the luck in the world at Old Trafford last Saturday, Arsene Wenger might well be forgiven for thinking Arsenal's name is already on the cup. If you think the same the odds are 6/4 with me.
Despite Chelsea not having won at Highbury in 56 years, I'm sure Claudio Rainieri will motivate his troops sufficiently to make Arsenal pull out all the stops, Arsenal are 2/5 to progress with Chelsea at 7/4.
Of the other ties, Southampton v Wolves stands out with Dave Jones looking to put one over the club that treated him so abysmally when he was manager there. Wolves will fancy their chances at St Mary's and could be value at 9/4 to progress to the next round.
It's a big week for United with a trip to the Reebok - the meat in the Champions League sandwich. Bolton have already turned over the Reds in the league, 1-0 at Old Trafford earlier in the season and Big Sam has got the Whites fighting doggedly for their Premiership lives. I fancy a high scoring draw, 2-2 is a 16/1 shot with me.
City can consolidate their push for a place in Europe by nicking a result against Arsenal at Maine Road and do the Reds a favour at the same time. Let's hope Nic Anelka does the business against his old team, the lanky Frenchman is 55/1 to score the first goal in a 2-1 City win.
This week's live Premiership football features three matches that don't particularly set the pulse racing!
Everton are at home to Southampton on lunchtime Saturday while West Brom entertain West Ham and Liverpool visit Birmingham on Sunday.
To save us all from falling asleep I'm going to offer a special bet that'll keep you interested throughout the matches....total number of goals in the three matches, five or less is 9/4, 6-8 is evens, nine or more is 9/4.
It's the second week of the Six Nations Rugby Tournament this weekend. England visit a Wales side that was humiliated by rugby minnows Italy in the opening round of matches.
I expect Wales to be receiving a start in the mid 20s on the handicap, and it wouldn't surprise me to see England win by a cricket score.
Expect the other matches, Ireland v Italy and France v Scotland also to end up in convincing victories for the home sides.
Super League VIII kicks off with a cracker tonight with a re-run of the Grand Final, this time at Knowsley Road, as St Helens entertain 11/8 ante-post favourites Bradford in front of the Sky cameras.
The Saints were embarrassed by Australia champions Sydney Roosters last week, but they're made of strong stuff.... expect a much better showing this week!
