OCTAGON actor Christopher Wright starred in a little costume drama of his own when the jacket he was given to wear on stage unearthed an amazing coincidence.
The actor, who is currently performing in The Hypochondriac, and is set to be seen in The Octagon's next production, Private Lives, was left speechless when he discovered an old theatre ticket in the pocket of his costume.
It dated back to the late 1980s and was for a production by the Hull Truck Theatre Company in its home town.
But it was only on further inspection that he realised the ticket was dated June 20, 1988, and was for the theatre's performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream.
And in a bizarre coincidence Christopher appeared in that very play.
It was the last production he actually appeared in for Hull Truck, and had just been discussing the theatre with a fellow cast member.
Christopher said: "The discovery really did send a chill down my spine.
"I appeared in that play and the ticket had obviously been bought by someone who had paid to be in the audience to see it.
"Somehow the jacket has since made its way to The Octagon in Bolton -- to be worn by me.
"I am still trying to work out how this has happened. It is complete coincidence.
"Whenever I am given a jacket from costume I clear its pockets out. I did just that at the start of rehearsals.
"But somehow on stage I went to pull out a prop from an inside pocket but pulled out some rubbish instead.
"I put it back and it was only after the show that I checked what it was."
He added: "I am staying on in Bolton to appear in the Octagon's next production, Private Lives, and when I get my costume I will be putting my hands into the pockets fairly gingerly!"
The Hypochondriac continues its run at The Octagon until February 22, and Private Lives is set to run from March 6 to April 5. For tickets telephone 01204 520661.
