REGARDING the proposed increase in parking charges.
On Saturday, February 15, my wife and I had to do an errand in Leigh. As this was our first visit. We first had to locate the place we were looking for and then find a car park close by. We soon found a car park in the centre of Leigh, where the parking charge was 70p for three hours (on a par with parking charges in Bury).
Unfortunately, neither my wife nor I had the right change for the machine, so I had to ask other people in the car park if they could change a £1 coin. And the third person I asked, a very kind gentleman, gave me 50p to go with the 20p coin I already had.
If parking fees are increased in Bolton, it will become a ghost town and traders will be begging motorists to come back. We shall certainly return to Leigh!
