A FOUR storey apartment building is to be constructed on the site of a former Kearsley pub.
Internet Property Development Co. Ltd have been given the go ahead by town hall chiefs to build 22 flats on the site of the former Man and Scythe Pub in Manchester Road.
There will be a 28 space car park at the back of the flats and also a landscaped area.
In a report, planning officers said: "The general design of the building is considered to be acceptable and represents a positive change to the appearence of this area of Kearlsey."
At a planning meeting, Cllr Margaret Rothwell said the new flats would be a big improvement to the site which she said is currently filled with rubbish.
She added that she also thought the flats were "infinitely better" than a proposal that was put forward to use the site as a car sales pitch with car wash.
